How do you become a member of Iota Sigma Beta?

Iota Sigma Beta Sorority holds a process commonly known as RUSH. RUSH is comprised of a series of general interest meetings (GIMs) and events held over a period of two to three weeks in the beginning of each semester. During RUSH you will receive information about Iota Sigma Beta Sorority, meet our sisters, learn more about how to become a member, and most importantly, determine if Iota Sigma Beta is the organization for you. All persons interested in becoming a member of Iota Sigma Beta must attend a minimum of one general interest meeting (GIM) and two events. Those individuals who meet those attendance requirements must then fill out a Membership Application and complete a Formal Interview. All candidates will be carefully reviewed and qualified candidates will be offered an official invitation to pledge commonly known as a BID. The sorority's membership intake process commonly known as the pledging process will begin upon acceptance of the BID.

Do students who are pursuing an associate degree at a technical college or a four-year college/university qualify for membership in Iota Sigma Beta Sorority?

To become a member of Iota Sigma Beta Sorority, one must be matriculated at a college or university which confers a baccalaureate degree.

Are there any academic requirements for membership that I should be aware of?

Iota Sigma Beta is committed to academic excellence. We look for women who understand the value of a good education, and who will continue in that tradition of excellence in all aspects of their lives. To apply for membership you must meet the cumulative minimum grade point average requirement of 3.0 on a 4.0 grading scale.

If I meet all of the requirements specified at RUSH, do I automatically receive a BID (invitation for membership)?

No. Our goal is to select women who not only meet those basic requirements, but who exceed them. Iota Sigma Beta invites all women to apply who hold themselves to high ethical and moral standards, exhibit outstanding personal and professional character, who demonstrate strong leadership qualities, and who are committed to promoting the intelligence, strength, and beauty of all women.

Must I be a certain ethnicity in order to join?

Absolutely not. We pride ourselves on the diversity of our sisters. Iota Sigma Beta is an equal opportunity organization. We are interested in women who understand the founding principles of the organization and are willing and able to uphold the mission and values of Iota Sigma Beta.
